History of the Burnet flag
David G. Burnet was the 1st President of the Republic of Texas, elected as "interim president" March 17, 1836 - October 22, 1836, and was responsible for designing the 1st flag of the republic. This flag served as Texas' national flag for all purposes except the Navy until the current Texas flag was adopted on January 25, 1839.
